Edgemate Remote Access operates using standard internet technologies such as HTTPS and WebSocket, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity between users and industrial devices.
1. Device Connection
A hardware or IoT device runs a program called the WebTunnel Agent, which establishes a secure TLS-encrypted WebSocket connection with the Remote Manager server hosted in the cloud. This creates a protected communication channel between the device and the cloud platform.
2. Cloud-Based Connectivity
The global connectivity cloud server receives access requests from the user’s web browser. These requests are then securely forwarded to the connected device through the active tunnel created by the WebTunnel Agent.
With just a stable internet connection, a secure link can be established between the device and the remote user. The solution is fully firewall-friendly and works seamlessly even when traffic passes through HTTP proxy servers, ensuring reliable access in various network environments.
